Patriotism to me is volunteering. Either volunteering for military service or in your community. But there are those who think patriotism means merely flying a flag. If that’s your expression of patriotism, at least show an ounce of respect for our flag by flying it properly. It angers me when people treat Old Glory like this. This flag wasn’t being flown properly from the start. And it’s been hanging this way for weeks.

Speaking of patriotism, volunteering and service to country, I’m reminded of the following quote: “And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.” This quote was part of the inaugural address of John F. Kennedy in 1961.
