It’s like opening a time capsule

This corner store is being remodeled and repurposed as a Bodega. In the process, signs are revealing themselves of previous occupants. In this case, the Ginsburg’s Jewelry Store, which occupied this corner location from 1914 through 1971. In those days, store signs were painted directly onto the brick facade in bright colors. Most recently the store was a souvenir shop. It’ll be interesting to see what they do with this sign. Paint over it or cover it with a new facade material.
