Under the close watchful eye of Supervisors, crews were out on a cold autumn Saturday morning working on back filling the bridge abutments in anticipation of the upcoming scheduled reopening of the river. Some were busy removing any imperfections and/or rough edges in the abutment concrete, while others were moving boulders around like they were pebbles with the Excavator.
I decided to stop adding updated images to the update post as, at the current level of over 800 images, it was getting cumbersome for the system to render. Besides, next week (Nov 25 or 26) they will be re-opening the river, as per the schedule. But there’s still much to be done. As far as I can tell, that means the only big events after that will be the placing of the bridge girders and the pouring of the road bed. Not a whole lot of moving of dirt. So my job is pretty much done, with only the occasional update in the appearance. And it appears, interest has waned with this project anyway. Traffic is down to a mere trickle in daily views.
