From the high desert of Reno to the bright lights of Las Vegas, the Vegas to Reno race is the longest single day desert race in America, testing endurance and strategy. This is not a loop or a sprint; there are no laps or resets, only continuous progress toward the finish line. Racers will depart Reno and head south along U.S. Route 95, traversing over 400 miles of remote terrain, desert valleys, and rugged mountains. With pit stops across the state, teams will have to carefully manage fuel, equipment, and timing as they advance into the desert.

This is the first year they are reversing the course. The 3 day excursion will be running from Reno to Las Vegas. This would have been fun to document out in the field as they traversed the desert terrain, but that isn’t in the cards for me. It also would have been interesting to be at the finish line, to document how the vehicles survived the back roads. Most of them look like they’re in off the showroom condition today, never have met a mud puddle…
